Resumen: Entre 1980 y 1992, los militantes de Sendero Luminoso, las fuerzas armadas peruanas y los campesinos andinos, entablaron una amarga guerra interna que dejó más de 69.000 muertos. Rebeliones inconclusas. Ayacucho antes de Sendero Luminoso, 1895-1980, es el primer relato histórico de los antecedentes políticos, económicos y sociales de este grupo armado en esta región, donde iniciaron su cruenta violencia contra el Estado peruano. El libro revela a vibrante historia política campesina de Ayacucho del siglo XX, que hasta ahora era poco atendida y estudiada. Heilman nos muestra las breves divisiones dentro de las comunidades indígenas rurales que provocaron constantes conflictos a lo largo de los años. Para la autora, Sendero Luminoso fue el último, y más extremo, de los movimientos políticos radicales que han perseguido y anhelado el apoyo de los campesinos indígenas, pero cuyos resultados desataron los peores prejuicios anti-indígenas y uno de los episodios más atroces de nuestra historia reciente. |
