Resumen: Desde hace algunos años los historiadores han devuelto a la Constitución de Cádiz de 1812 su genuina dimensión de propuesta para ±ambos hemisferios*. Las Cortes que redactaron esta Carta constituyeron el punto de encuentro entre diputados de la península con sus pares hispanoamericanos teniendo ambos grupos voz y voto. A los criollos, mestizos e indígenas se les otorgó la ciudadanía, para lo cual se abolieron mecanismos tradicionales de explotación colonial como el tributo y la mita. Es decir, hubo un intento por convertir a la América española en parte integrante de la monarquía hispana. |
