El presente estudio ofrece un panorama exploratorio de las fiestas costumbristas - Navidad y Santos Patrones - en los trece distritos que conforman la extensa provincia de Castrovirreyna, región de Huancavelica. Como señala el autor, se tiende a ver solo el aspecto minero de la región investigándose muy poco sobre la enorme riqueza cultural de provincias como Castrovirreyna. Sin duda, este es el primer estudio que describe sus actividades festivas, las danzas, los rituales y ceremonias, algunas tradicionales y otras modernas, con observaciones comparativas importantes. Previamente el autor analiza el escenario geográfico, el movimiento poblacional y otros factores influyentes en la realización de las fiestas. (Texto de la contratapa). |
