Resumen: Establecido en 1979, el Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund es la organización sin fines de lucro autorizada por el Congreso para construir el Vietnam Veterans Memorial en Washington, DC Hoy, su misión es preservar el legado del Muro, promover la curación y educar sobre el impacto de la Guerra de Vietnam. El Fondo Conmemorativo logra esto a través de sus muchos programas de extensión, que incluyen: proporcionar materiales curriculares gratuitos a las escuelas; operar una red de maestros y conferencias para compartir recursos con educadores de todo el país; mantener un sitio web como fuente de información gratuita para todos; acoger seis ceremonias cada año en The Wall; patrocinando una réplica itinerante de The Wall, llamada The Wall That Heals; mantener el programa In Memory que anualmente honra a aquellos que sirvieron en Vietnam y murieron prematuramente como resultado de ese servicio, pero que no se ajustan a las pautas del Departamento de Defensa para ser incluidos en The Wall; y proporcionar materiales y asistencia a los voluntarios en The Wall.
