Resumen: El presente libro, opera prima del historiador Luis Angel Bellota, es una investigación que, por un lado, explica el bandolerismo mexicano a lo largo del siglo XIX y, por el otro, desempolva una vieja rebelión antiporfirista veinte años antes de la Revolución. El sello justiciero de dicho movimiento presenta los rasgos básicos de lo que Hobsbawm denominó "bandolerismo social". Desde finales del virreinato hasta la primera administración de Porfirio Díaz, la presencia de bandidos en los caminos y veredas rurales fue reflejo de un Estado tambaleante, de una geografía incomunicada y de las convulsiones sociales que coparon buena parte de la centuria antepasada. -- Contraportada. |
